is a source of knowledge and the future is a
source of hope. Love of the past implies faith in
the future.” We honour the past, the Memorial
Chapel and all she stood for as we put our faith
in the future and begin our journey towards
the building of our new Centennial Chapel.
Another very special moment at this Founders’
Day was the acknowledgement of Old Collegian
Naylor Hillary (OC 1933 – Student No 772) who
joined us for the foundation stone ceremony
and Founders’ Day Assembly. Mr Naylor will
be turning 100 years old in July so he was
applauded and wished a happy birthday by the
whole assembly.
It is at times such as this that I am reminded
that St Andrew’s College is so much more than
just a school.
Learning is at the heart of what we do;
reaching academic potential and preparing
for a life of learning remains our most
fundamental responsibility. But, a St Andrew’s
experience is so much more than that. One
only needs to be present on a day where those
in their 70s return to school, to realise that
a sense of belonging at StAC is something
that lasts for a lifetime. I hope everyone
reading this is making preparations to return
for our Centenary weekend from Friday,
17 March to Sunday, 19 March 2017.
Planning is well underway and excitement is
building. More information about our plans
for the Centenary will be available soon.
It will be a weekend not to be missed!
