STRATEGIC PLANNING PROCESS
This strategic plan has been developed through a number of areas of enquiry. The starting point
was the College strategic plan developed by the Rector and the Board of Governors in 2008. This
plan has been the guiding document for school-wide goals and actions over the past five years,
the outcomes of which have been reported in the College’s published annual report.
The earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 resulted in obvious disruption to this plan and was cause for
a redefinition of priorities. The changing Christchurch landscape (literally and figuratively) has
led to new challenges and opportunities.
This new strategic plan is the result of our immediate response to a crisis situation, recognition
of immediate needs and anticipation of future demands.
We have taken into consideration data on demographic, social, economic and technological
trends. We have reviewed leading edge research of 21st century trends in education. We have
engaged extensively with the St Andrew’s community through dialogue, events and surveys with
our student, staff, parent and Old Collegian community.
The Board of Governors has been committed to strategic planning discussions on an annual
basis and we have engaged external advice and review to conduct independent enquiry into our
perceived strengths and weaknesses.
Through this process, we feel confident we have successfully identified and brought the
resultant ideas together that will inform the strategies that will guide St Andrew’s into a
successful and exciting future.
