Enrol now for 2015.
Sophie Crews (Head Girl 2012)
VMC 2006 – 2012
I had the pleasure of attending the Big Sing Finale last weekend.
When I was watching the girls sing, it really felt like yesterday that
I was at Villa. It scares me that it was nearly two years ago since I
graduated from Villa and to think of everything that has happened
since then!
Currently I am in my second year of a Bachelor of Architectural
Studies at the University of Auckland. There is always something
going on in Auckland and I am in love with the big city!
I have just been blessed with a job at a big architectural firm in
Auckland, The Buchan Group, who designed the Christchurch Art
Gallery. I am so insanely grateful for the opportunity and am so
excited to see where it takes me. On 25 October my class is taking
part in FESTA 2014 festival “CityUps” in Christchurch, where we
are aiming to rebuild High Street for one night through our own
massive architectural installations. The event will be huge! In 2012
it welcomed 20,000 Cantabrians - and I recommend you all come
see it, you won’t want to miss out! You can check out our facebook
page and see what we are up to:
installationupload. Next March, with the University of Auckland
Architecture School I will be travelling to Spain and Portugal on a
five week study tour - a group of 50 students and tutors attending
either the University of Barcelona or the University of Lisbon,
roaming the two countries and being in awe of all the amazing
architecture. I thank God every day for Villa Maria College in
making me a hardworking and driven student which has allowed
me to be a part of all these exciting new things, and I miss so much
about Villa!
