Literacy and Numeracy requirements for NCEA Level 1
Literacy requirements
Either
Unit standards
Package of three literacy unit standards (total of 10 credits -
all
three required) This will be offered to individual students by your
English teacher.
Or
Achievement standards
Specified achievement standards available through a range of
subjects (minimum total of 10 credits). 156 achievement standards
across 32 subjects offer credits that meet literacy requirements. Your
teachers will advise you of these in course booklets.
Numeracy requirements
Either
Unit standards
Package of three numeracy unit standards (total of 10 credits –
all
three required) This will be offered to individual students by your
Mathematics teacher.
Or
Achievement standards
Specified achievement standards available through a range of
subjects - (minimum total of 10 credits) 29 achievement standards
across 9 subjects offer credits that meet numeracy requirements.
Your teachers will advise you of these in course booklets.
