ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Year 10 Art is essential.
CONTENT
During the year, you will study a practical
course of Achievement Standards in the
Visual Arts based on the Canterbury
landscape. The courses include drawing and
painting.
1.4 Canterbury landscape. The courses
include:
- Drawing – standards based on initiated
student work.
- Painting – Student initiated work on
landscapes.
1.3 Drawing using wet and dry media

1.4 is externally moderated
1.3 is internally assessed
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 16 credits in NCEA Level 1 Visual Arts
WHAT WILL IT COST
Subject financial contribution: $45
NEXT STEP
NCEA Level 2 in Visual Arts
You must obtain at least 12 of the 16 credits
to progress to Level 2 Visual Arts.

NCEA Level 1 Visual Arts to progress to NCEA
Level 2 Visual Arts.
CONTENT
During the year you will study a practical course

- Photography
- Painting
- Design
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
All Achievement Standards are internally
assessed.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Each topic carries 8 credits for a total course of
24 credits in NCEA level 2 Visual Arts
