CONTENT
Students focus on creating three textile-based
outcomes, made for a specific purpose.
Assessment is based on practical skills and
evidence presented in a portfolio.
Content includes:
- The beginnings of fashion
- Why we make garments the way we do
- How to make quality garments
- How to make basic adaptations to a
pattern
HOW IS THIS COURSE ASSESSED
16 credits internally assessed at NCEA
Level 1
4 credits externally assessed at NCEA Level 1
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Assessment is based on practical skills and
evidence is presented in a portfolio.
Content includes
- The use of planning tools in fashion
- Why garments stand out
- How to make quality garments
- How to make advanced adaptations to a
pattern
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
16 credits internally assessed at NCEA Level 2
4 credits externally assessed at NCEA Level 2
Literacy credits can be gained from the external
written report
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
