Soft Materials
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
None, but Level 1 and/or 2 Technology Soft
Materials is an advantage.
CONTENT
Student focus on creating two textile-based
outcomes featuring complex procedures,
made for a specific purpose.
Assessment is based on practical skills and
evidence is presented in a portfolio.
Content includes:
- Why are garments successful
- Researching and implementing complex
procedures
- How to work with difficult fabrics
- How to make quality garments
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
16 credits internally assessed at NCEA Level 3
4 credits externally assessed at NCEA Level 3
Literacy credits can be gained from the external
written report
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF COURSE
REQUIREMENTS ARE COMPLETED
NCEA Level 3 – 20 credits
