Level 3 Food and Hospitality
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
No prerequisites. A background in this subject
would be desirable but is not essential.
CONTENT
The course will consist of some:
Level 2 and 3 hospitality standards:
Food preparation, techniques and processes
Meal presentation and creativity
Level 3 achievement standards in nutrition
Media influences and message on food choices
Strategies to achieve health enhancing changes
for an individual
The effects of globalisation on food choices
Societal factors that impact on Hauora and well-
being of communities.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
Up to 20 credits at NCEA level 3.
Up to 6 credits or more at HSI level 2 and 3.
There is also the option to mix and match and not
take a full level 3 achievement standard course.
Literacy credits can be gained from the following
achievement standards: 91466, 19467, 91468,
91469, 91470
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 20 credits in NCEA level 3 and 6 credits
level 2 for NCEA
WHAT WILL IT COST
$120 which covers all resources provided for
practical sessions, except for internal practical
assessments, where students are required to
provide all ingredients.
