Level 1 Music
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Year 10 Music or at the discretion of the HOD
of Music
For Achievement Standards 1.1 and 1.2 an
instrument for performance is required.
(Note: voice is an instrument)
CONTENT
The course covers the following aspects:
- Performance
- Composition
- Aural Skills
- Musical Literacy
- Knowledge of Musical Works
- New Zealand Music.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
There are 6 Level 1 achievement standards
available. Four achievement standards are
internally assessed and two are external
assessed.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 30 credits in NCEA Level 1
It is not expected that student will do all of the
available units
WHAT WILL IT COST
$30 per performance if piano accompaniment
for performance is required
Theory workbook(s) $20 each

available. Six of achievement standards are
internally assessed by the school and two
externally assessed.
