Level 1 Music
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Year 10 Music or at the discretion of the HOD
of Music
For Achievement Standards 1.1 and 1.2 an
instrument for performance is required.
(Note: voice is an instrument)
CONTENT
The course covers the following aspects:
- Performance
- Composition
- Aural skills
- Musical literacy
- Knowledge of musical works
- Music technology
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
There are 5 Level 1 achievement standards
available. Three achievement standards are
internally assessed and two are external
assessed. There is an optional Unit Standard.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 28 credits in NCEA Level 1
It is not expected that student will do all of the
available units

HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
There are 8 Level 2 Achievement Standards
available. Six of achievement standards are
internally assessed by the school and two
externally assessed.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 30 credits in NCEA Level 2
It is not expected that student will do all of the
available units
