Level 1 Te Reo Māori
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Completion of Year 10 Māori
CONTENT
Follows the syllabus for NCEA Level 1 Māori
Topics vary year to year.
The curriculum integrates all language modules
of:
- whakarongo (listening)
- panui (reading)
- matakitaki (viewing)
- korero (speaking), tuhituhi (writing)
- whakaatu (presenting)
A noho marae (marae overnight stay) is
planned in term 3. This is to weave matauranga
Maori (Maori knowledge) in the classroom to
our local iwi marae.
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
Regular tests – vocabulary, comprehension,
writing, speaking, listening
Internal achievement standards assessed:
1.1 Listening

1.2 Speaking - optional

1.5 Written

External assessment standards assessed:
1.3 Reading

and/or
1.4 Writing
