ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

CONTENT
- Sports science: basic anatomy and
exercise physiology, and biomechanics.
- Sport education and development of
interpersonal skills through volleyball and
hip hop.
- Participation in physical activities and
factors that influence participation. eg.
korfball, speedminton, handball, lacrose
- Participate in practical activities: aquathon
and football.
- Safety in outdoor education activities eg.
ropes course, skateboarding.
HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED
A combination of theory and practical
assessments working towards achievement
standards, all of which are internally assessed
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 20 credits in NCEA Level 1

CONTENT
- Understand the biomechanics of learning
a skill
- Plan and implement a training programme
and reflect on biophysical principles that
relate to exercise.
- Perform a physical activity in an applied
setting e.g. tennis and turbo touch
- Investigate a sporting festival or event’s
impact on self, others and society.
- Investigate and apply leadership
strategies on camp
- First aid – unit standards
