ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory results in NCEA Level 1 Physical
Education or with HOD approval.
CONTENT
- Perform a physical activity in an applied
setting eg. netball, trampolining, rock
climbing.
- Examine the significance for self, others
and society of a sporting event, a physical
activity, or a festival.
- First aid course
- ABL in outdoor education
- Examine the implementation and
outcome(s) of a physical activity event or
opportunity eg. Jump jam
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
The course is a combination of unit standards
and achievement standards.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 21 credits in NCEA level 2

or others. eg. badminton, aerobics, golf
- Evaluate the effectiveness of a
performance improvement programme.
eg. triathalon training
- Demonstrate quality performance of a
physical activity in an applied setting eg.
badminton and aerobics.
- Analyse issues in safety management for
outdoor activity to devise safety
management strategies.
- Examine a current physical activity event,
trend, or issue and its impact on
New Zealand society.
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
All achievement standards will be internally
assessed.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 19 credits at level 3
Opportunity to sit scholarship examination
