The course is divided into five sections
- Cultural Processes: Tourism
development in Queenstown
- Research: Tourism impacts in
Queenstown
- Analyse a contemporary geographic
issue: Christchurch redevelopment post
earthquake
- Global study: Diamond trade
- Geographic skills and ideas
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
You will be working towards attaining Level 3
NCEA Achievement and Unit standards
3 internally assessed
3 externally assessed
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
Up to 19 credits in NCEA level 3.
Up to 19 of these credits qualify for level 3
literacy and 5 of these are level 3 numeracy.
Opportunity to sit scholarship examination
WHAT WILL IT COST
$340 approximately for Queenstown field trip
This trip will occur if costs permit.

This course focuses on events of significance
to New Zealanders in the 20

century
Several themes will be studied including:
- Titanic: ‘a history mystery’
- Rights and reactions: Civil rights in the
USA and New Zealand
- War and peace: Origins of World War II
- Research – A New Zealand disaster.
