This course offers the Level 2 Tourism Unit
Standards which are specific to the National
Certificate of Tourism and Travel (Level 2).
Unit Standards:
- Work roles in tourism
- World tourist destinations
- The business of tourism
- New Zealand tourist destinations
- Tourist characteristics and needs
- Read and comprehend work-related text
- Knowledge and use of the internet
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
The course is assessed by unit standards
which are in the form of tasks to be completed
over the year. National assessments are set
by the Tourism Industry ITO (ATTTO).
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
National Certificate of Tourism and Travel
(Level 2) provided other requirements are
met. Up to 23 credits in NCEA level 2

Travel Unit Standards which are specific to
the National Certificate of Tourism and
Travel (Level 3).
Unit Standards:
- Demonstrate Knowledge of Australia as a
destination
- Describe and promote a New Zealand
tourist destination
- Destination knowledge of the Pacific
Islands
HOW IS THE COURSE ASSESSED
The course is assessed by unit standards
which are in the form of tasks to be completed
over the year. National assessments are set
by the Tourism Industry ITO (ATTTO). Some
courses are moderated Going Places.
QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED
National Certificate of Tourism and Travel
(Level 3) provided other requirements are
met.
