ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

12 or more credits in Level 2 English including

TWO of 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 are required

CONTENT

Students will complete a course that covers a

combination of the following skills:

- Analysis of texts both visual and written

- Study of language

- Shakespearian Drama

- Literary Analysis

- Oral presentation

- Research

- Writing – formal and creative

HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED

Level 3 Achievement Standards.

There will be both Internal Assessments and

External Assessments through national

examinations.

QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS

SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Up to 24 credits at NCEA Level 3

Opportunity to sit Scholarship examination

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Completed Level 2 English course with some

credits

CONTENT

The aim of this course is to provide for those

Year 13 students who either need to gain their

Level 2 Literacy credits or who wish to take

English at Year 13 but have not gained entry

to the full Level 3 course.

This will include:

- Connections across texts

- Analysis of text, both visual and written

- Formal/creative writing

- Oral presentation

- Close viewing

- Research

HOW THE COURSE IS ASSESSED

Level 3 English Achievement Standards,

(depending on individual student

requirements)

This will include at least 14 credits at Level 3.

Achievement Standards will be both internally

and externally assessed.

QUALIFICATION GAINED IF STANDARDS

SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED

Credits towards NCEA Levels 3

University Entrance and Level 2 literacy

requirements
