ATV Racing
Taylor Graham (Year 9) was crowned
the Canterbury TT Racing Champion
for ATV’s after winning all three of his
races. Taylor has only been racing for
18 months and so far this season he
has won all his events.
Badminton
Jack Wang (Year 7) and Jenny Zhu
(Year 8) were selected for the
New Zealand Badminton U15 High
Performance Squad - the first time
that Canterbury players have been
selected into this squad in the past
five years.
Basketball
Jayden Chan, Ben Cushing, Tullan
McGuinness (all U17 team) and
William Hollings (U15 team) were
selected to attend the Basketball
New Zealand National Talent
Development Programme, Southern
Camp. William was also selected for
the U16 Boys Basketball New Zealand
Koru Development squad, with
Jayden selected as a reserve for the
U18 Squad.
The senior girls’ basketball team
won the final of the Premiere Second
Division grade going unbeaten all
season.
Cricket
The First XI cricket team travelled to
Sydney for 12 days, playing cricket
against some of Sydney’s top First XI
teams. The tour was a great success
with the team losing only one game
in the final over, out of seven
scheduled matches.
Cross Country
At the New Zealand Cross Country
Championships, Ari Graham (Year 11)
finished first in the U18 category.
Duathlon
At the Canterbury Secondary Schools’
Duathlon Championships, Saxon
Morgan (Year 9) came third in the
junior boys, Mya Graham (Year 9) third
in the junior girls, Mitchell Small
(Year 11) second in intermediate
boys, Ari Graham (Year 11) first in the
intermediate girls and Ray McKenzie
(Year 12) first in the senior boys
category.
Football
Frankie Morrow (Year 8) participated in
the Football National Training Camp for
U13 girls during the October holidays.
Futsal
Tom McGowan (Year 12) was selected
to play for the Mainland (Canterbury)
Men’s Futsal team in Hawke’s Bay at
the National Championships.
Golf
The team of Marcel Boet (Year 11),
Jack Piggott (Year 12), Ashton Sloss
(Year 12) and Jimmy Philip (Year 12)
came third in the Canterbury Schools’
Golf Championships at Coringa.
Hockey
Congratulations to the following
students who have made the
Canterbury U15A team: Ed Batt,
Fletcher Edmond, Will Mace-Cochrane,
Josh Mariu and Joseph Yoon.
The First XI beat St Bede’s College
5–0 in the Secondary Schools’
Premiere League Boys Division 1
Competition.
Sam Lane (Year 12), Lawrence
Darling (Year 12) and Jack Piggott
(Year 12) were selected into the
Canterbury U18A team.
Sophie Gualter (Year 13) was
selected for the New Zealand Māori
Women’s U21 Hockey squad.
Will Mace-Cochrane (Year 10) was
awarded the Most Valuable Player
U15 and Balthazar Ruscoe (Year 10)
was named Most Valuable Player
U15B at the Canterbury Hockey
Awards.
Ice Hockey
The StAC ice hockey team won
the final of the Christchurch High
School League 4–0 against a
Burnside combined team. It is the
first time that StAC has won the title
in six years.
Daisy Hopkins (StAC A team goalie)
was selected for the New Zealand
U18 Development Women’s Ice
Hockey team travelling to Australia
in December.
Judo
Oisin Roberts (Year 10) added the
New Zealand National Champion
title to his Canterbury U17, South
Island U17 and South Island U20
championship titles.
